Trip to San Francisco

So, Todd and I recently took at short overnight trip to San Francisco to walk the city through and through, and that we did, walking a total of 11.5 miles and three trolley rides in two days. It was windy and chilly but sunny, so it was overall great weather. Here's the photo documentary!

We got into San Francisco around 10am and after taking BART to the hotel, getting coffee and checking in, I tied my shoelaces tight and prepared to walk...

About 6 blocks away from the hotel was the end of the Powell/Hyde trolley line, which we hopped on to get to Fisherman's Wharf to grab lunch.

Side shot!

The trolley tracks up Powell.

Me being silly! Imagine that!

And again.

After hopping off at the other end of the city, we made out way to the wharf, bellies growling.

The camera was put away while we navigated pedestrian traffic and grabbed some delicious seafood from the street vendors. Hot clam chowder and a crab and shrimp sandwich.

Then I happened to know where one of those old-fashioned photo machines was on the wharf and subjected Todd to the couple shots. Best part is that we were totally unprepared for pretty much every shot, as demonstrated in the first photo. These turned out pretty funny. Especially the third one ... maybe he doesn't like me as much as I thought, haha!

Me in Ghiradelli Square, where we grabbed some chocolate to snack on the rest of the trip and eyed the sundaes, which we came back the next day to enjoy.

We then grabbed some coffee and sat in this ampitheater for a short time to watch the choppy water.

The choppy water. There's actually a swimmer in there, yikes!

Need ... windblock!

On our walk to the Bank of America building, my favorite place to get a drink in the city, all due to Linda!

Post-martini. Actually, the best dirty martini I've had in a LONG time.

We tired out from being blown around by the wind and walking all over the city and passed out for an hour long nap, after which only my growling belly could get me back on my feet, where we walked to the trolley again and took it to Chinatown for late-night grub, and it was definitely grub!

The next morning we trucked it another few miles to meet my friend Brandie for breakfast, who happened to be there all the way from Washington D.C. to visit her friend, what a coincidence! I forgot to get a picture though...

Me again, walking and texting Brandie to find out the location of a sushi place she highly recommended, for dinner before out flight out. We're on our way across the city again to check out the Exploratorium.

Found a bunch of stairs and gardens at one end of the Presidio that led to the museum. Good view!

Expensive houses, the city, and Alcatraz.

We stopped to lay in the sun in this little garden, but had to pose beforehand!

Me, trying to be cute.

The only picture we took in the Exploratorium, where I think Todd was beside himself with glee on this big chair. (Yes, he was swinging his legs).

And that's that! I always wish I'd take more pictures but during the trip end up wanted to enjoy being there as opposed to posing for shots. But overall it was a great trip. We were both exhausted from all the walking and wind by the end of the trip, but very satisfied with our vacationing, we saw a lot but not too much, got around the city by foot, had some great food and just got to spend a lot of time walking and talking, or riding the trolley and talking, or having amazing food and talking. For how much we saw, it was very leisurely. Before we hopped on BART to catch our flight, we had a GREAT sushi dinner to top it off.

And ya know, I have to laugh and shake my head at how life changes and we never see it coming. We can be sure of very few things in life and in our future. I say this because now this blog has documented my life in Aspen, Miami, and Los Angeles, and on the road to each. Not to mention three different boyfriends! I am sure proud of my life and that I have lived it well so far and plan to continue. I celebrate all experiences, and am happy I can share them with you.

And there ya go!
